Your official guide to setting up your Trezor hardware wallet

Why Trezor?

Trezor is a market-leading hardware wallet that provides state-of-the-art security for storing cryptocurrencies. Unlike software wallets, Trezor keeps your private keys offline, away from hackers, viruses, and phishing attacks.

Whether you are new to crypto or a seasoned investor, Trezor helps you take full control of your digital assets with ease and confidence.

Before You Begin

Step 1: Go to Trezor.io/Start

To begin setting up your Trezor wallet, open a web browser and visit https://trezor.io/start. This is the only official setup page. Do not trust third-party websites.

Step 2: Install Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is the official desktop and web app used to manage your crypto, update firmware, and more. You can choose to install the desktop app (recommended) or use the web version.

  1. Click “Download for desktop” to install Trezor Suite for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
  2. Follow the installation prompts.
  3. Alternatively, click “Launch Trezor Suite Web” to access it via your browser.

Step 3: Connect Your Device

Plug your Trezor device into your computer or phone using the provided USB cable. Trezor Suite will automatically detect your device and guide you through the next steps.

You may be prompted to install the latest firmware. Always install official updates from Trezor.io only.

Step 4: Create a New Wallet or Recover Existing One

If this is your first time using Trezor, select “Create new wallet”. Trezor will generate a unique 12- or 24-word recovery seed. This seed is the master key to your crypto.

IMPORTANT: Write down the recovery seed on the provided card. Do not take photos or store it digitally. Keep it in a secure location, offline.

If you're restoring an existing wallet, click “Recover wallet” and enter your seed words using the on-screen instructions.

Step 5: Set Up a PIN

For additional security, you'll be asked to set a PIN for your Trezor device. This PIN will be required each time you connect your Trezor.

Step 6: Explore Trezor Suite
